Dr. Haydee Rimer
Haydee Rimer, MD is originally from Venezuela where she completed her medical degree at La Universidad de Los Andes, where she graduated with honors ( Magna Cum Laude). She moved to the USA with her husband and daughter in 1989 to Baltimore where she did a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland’s Center for Vaccine Development and obtained a Master in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. The family moved to Texas where she did residency training in El Paso at Texas Tech University. After residency they moved to Austin when her husband accepted a position as professor at the University of Texas.
Dr. Rimer served as pediatrician and residency preceptor in the clinics for the City of Austin, developing relationships in the Austin pediatric community that eventually led to the formation of Southwest Pediatric Associates with Drs. Jolet and Patil in 2001.
She and her husband have 2 children, Daniela and Austin. Austin is finishing his college degree in environmental science at the University of Minnesota. Daniela is a bilingual STEM teacher at Camp Mabry. Daniela and her husband welcomed Dr. Rimer’s grandson, 2 year-old Sergio.
Dr. Rimer loves to see all pediatric ages from newborns to adolescents in old aspects of their health. She has a special interest in nutrition focusing on healthy living as a way to prevent obesity.
