Amanda Boardman, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC
A native Texan, Amanda has spent most of her life in Austin, earning her BSN from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. From early on in her nursing education, Amanda knew that she wanted to work with children and their families. She loves partnering with families and helping to make the healthcare environment a comfortable and approachable place for children.
For the last decade, Amanda worked at a K-12 school in Austin, serving as the school nurse and later the Director of Health & Wellness. During her time there Amanda helped lead the school through the Covid-19 pandemic, helped write and teach a variety of health and wellness curriculum, and was a School Nurse of the Year Finalist in 2019.
Amanda returned to the University of Texas for her Masters in Nursing, with her experiences as a school nurse informing her education and development as a Nurse Practitioner. Amanda believes that being part of a child’s healthcare team is both a privilege and a responsibility, especially during some of the most vulnerable times in a family’s life. With every interaction, she hopes to empower families to actively participate in their child’s care, and give them a voice in the medical process.
Amanda is excited about joining the Southwest Pediatrics team because it is a place of excellence in pediatric care, and a place where children and families are truly cared for.
When she isn’t working, Amanda loves cheering for the Texas Longhorns, especially in football, basketball and softball and hopes to grow the next generation of Longhorns in her three children, Madison, Samuel, and Elijah. During her free time, she loves taking road trips with her children and introducing them to sights around the country both big and small and spending time with her family
